The Students Union Government of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree whose election's results were cancelled on September 12th, 2019 held the rerun today in a peaceful atmosphere.

It was reported that the results of the September 12th elections were cancelled due to alleged election malpractice. 

It could be recalled that the management of the institution ban students unionism on the campus when some irate students burnt down the school’s medical center.

Meanwhile, according to findings by Otmarena, the elections which were usually held on pavilion was held in the various faculties and were generally peaceful as students were seen in their queues while other electoral officials and law enforcement agencies were on ground to ensure the smooth run of the election process.

In a brief chat with the acting Rector of the institution, Dr. Olawoye Olaniran.

he said;
“Election is not a do or die affair, if you don’t win today that doesn’t mean that you are a loser because you can become an important personality in future”.

The former deputy Rector of the school Dr. Ademiluyi, said;
''The election has been going on smoothly as it was well planned by the school management.''

He urged all aspirants to accept the outcome of the election because politics is a game where there will always be a loser and a winner.
