45/46 Days After Closure of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

It is no longer rumours that Osun State Polytechnic , Iree students have been sent home after the protest of June 1st ,that led to the vandalization  of  the institution's medical centre.

For the records ,after the death of one Aminu Sheu Hammed,HND One Applied Chemistry student on May 31st ,the students cum alleged hoodlums venerated the medical centre on various grounds as reported in the media. The Yoruba have rightly claimed," Eru kan ni mu ni bu Igba eru ", meaning a slave action could attract opprobium for two hundred slaves.

The incident which brought serious public outcry and comments ,occurred during Second Semester Examination period of ND 1 , HND 1, and HND 2 students final examination, many students are yet to complete their examination and this event have stymied the plans and signing out of final year students .

The school management had immediately set up a committee to investigate the causes of the reprehensible act , after which the  student's union government was also suspended,perhaps one will say all hands have been on deck to rescue the situation. Just like when a baby's head is wrongly positioned in the market,it is the duty of the elders to correct the anomaly. All eyes  on the management of the institution to set the records straight.

A month and some days and ,I wonder,what else needs to be put in place ,so that the students sent home can come back and complete their examination,many of whom would have become scatter brained, some have expressed the regrets caused by these vandals who hijacked the protest. Some students have blamed it on the institution's lack of perimeter fencing. Some argued that the negligence of the medical staff led to this damaging act, some blamed the students for not organising a democratic protest. The blame game players wont help the situation no doubt.

The suspended student's union leaders have shown their disdain towards the issues , most especially as they round off their tenure of office after a failed Student's Union Election which was earlier rescheduled for June before the horrible incident brought into shambles plans. Architectural cautions must be put in place  by the school management, to prevent future occurrence of such happening .

Tellingly, the need to understand that ,whatever might have caused this lugubrious omen , history won't forget those part of the struggles. It is high time the institution set the records straight and allow activities to resume on Iree campus.

The government of the day ,must not allow the students to remain at home , as it is believed that , an idle hand is the devil's workshop. The timely intervention of the state will surely rescue the situation as these students will be happy to resume and get back on campus.

The Acting Rector of the institution will also be happy to welcome students back to campus as the tenure won't be on a smooth pace without the students upon whom new policies and changes can be effected.
