The Super Eagle captain, John Obi Mikel has confirmed his return to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

The captain whose return to the squad was in doubt, told AOIFootball that he had a private meeting with the Franco-German and has decided to feature at the continent’s biggest soccer fiesta when it kicks off in Egypt next month. He said;

“I met with Coach Rohr and we discussed his plans for the team in the forthcoming tournament. All I can say is that I am delighted and happy because I am coming to the Nations Cup.”

When John Obi Mikel opted for a move from China to England, not many gave him a chance to blossom.
This is especially when he settled for Championship side, Middlesbrough. Few weeks down the line, however, the narrative has changed a great deal and Mikel is getting all the accolades. A big plus for the Nigeria side.
